INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
|
PREPARATION:
- Read
installation instructions and MSDS thoroughly
prior to installation.
- All
surfaces must be sound, smooth, dry, clean
and free of excessive moisture or alkali.
Remove dirt, wax, loose paint and all other
foreign matter that would interfere with a
good bond, such as curing agents and sealers.
Condition the area to be installed, adhesive
and flooring at 65°F (18°C) or above
for 48 hours before, during and 48 hours after
installation.
-
Refer to VCT manufacturer’s specific
recommendations for subfloor preparation.
-
Always run a calcium chloride and alkali test
over concrete on any grade level. For accurate
results, curing agents must be removed in
areas where tests will be run. Moisture test
results should meet the flooring manufacturer’s
recommendations, but should not exceed 5 lbs./1000
sq.ft/24 hrs. as determined by the calcium
chloride moisture test (ASTM-F-1869). Alkali
readings should be 5 to 9.
INSTALLATION:
- Stir
any liquid on the surface into the adhesive
and full spread using the recommended trowel
notching.
- Allow
adhesive to set open until dry to the touch,
approximately 20-60 minutes. When dry to the
touch, the adhesive will be tacky with no
transfer to the fingers.
- Install
and fit all tiles within 24 hours. Working
time will vary based on job conditions, substrate,
temperature and humidity.
- Roll
floor with a 100 lb. roller if recommended
by the tile manufacturer.
- Do
not wet wash or strip tile for five days after
installation.
-
Always follow VCT manufacturer’s recommendations
for maintenance procedures to minimize any
risk of improper maintenance interfering with
the adhesive bond.
- As
with any installation process, adequate ventilation
of the work area should be maintained. Persons
who are sensitive to odors and/or chemicals
should avoid the
work area.
CLEANUP:
- Wet
Adhesive: Clean, white cloth dampened
with soapy water.
- Dried
Adhesive:
Clean, white cloth dampened with mineral spirits;
carefully following warnings on container.
WARNINGS:
Carefully read and follow all cautions and warnings
on the product label. Refer to the Material
Safety Data Sheet for additional product
information.
