INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
|
PREPARATION:
- Refer
to carpet manufacturers specific recommendations.
- Condition
the area to be installed, adhesive and flooring
at 65°F (18°C)
or above for 48 hours before, during and 48
hours after installation.
- Floor
must be sound, smooth, dry, clean and free
of excessive
moisture or alkali. Remove dirt, wax, loose
paint and all other foreign
matter that would interfere with a good bond
such as curing agents
and sealers.
INSTALLATION:
- Stir
any liquid on the surface into the adhesive.
- Full
spread adhesive using recommended trowel.
Note: Recommended trowel sizes are
minimum requirements. Porous
concrete and some carpet backings may require
deeper notches.
100% transfer of adhesive into the carpet
backing must be obtained.
- Install
carpet immediately into wet adhesive unless
carpet or substrate is nonporous. In this
case, wait 10 15 minutes before installing
carpet.
- Within
60 minutes, cut, fit and reposition as recommended
by the carpet manufacturer.
- Roll
floor in both directions with a 75-100 lb
roller and seal seams as
recommended by the carpet manufacturer. Stiff
carpets should be
rolled again after 2 hours. Restrict heavy
traffic over carpet for 24 hours.
- As
is customary with normal installation procedures,
do not sand, dry
sweep, dry scrape, drill, saw, beadblast,
or mechanically chip or
pulverize existing resilient flooring, backing,
lining felt, or asphalt
cutback adhesives or other adhesives.
These products may contain
asbestos fibers and/or crystalline silica.
Avoid creating dust. During
the installation process, adequate ventilation
of the work area should
be maintained. Persons who are sensitive to
odors and/or chemicals
should avoid the work area. Inhalation of
such dust is a cancer and
respiratory tract hazard. Smoking by individuals
exposed to asbestos
fibers greatly increases the risk of serious
bodily harm. See current
edition of the Resilient Floor Covering Institutes
publication
Recommended Work Practices for Removal
of Resilient Floor
Coverings for instructions on removing
all resilient floor
covering structures.
